What is iGame4?
iGame4 LLC strives to be the leader in integrating active video games into the physical education curricula at schools across the nation. iGame4 uses the motivation of video games to encourage fitness among children and create positive behaviors that extend beyond the classroom. iGame4 programs offer activities that improve endurance, flexibility, balance and the overall health of students. At iGame4, we recognize that children are more likely to stick with physical activities they love... like video games!
What qualifications and certifications does iGame4 have?
iGame4 has certified New York State Teachers in top management roles. We have ACE certified Personal Trainers and Physical Education teachers leading the fitness program. Our programs meet all New York State Physical Education standards.
What about health certifications?
Safety and health come first at iGame4. Our trainer on staff is CPR and AED certified and all children have to use hand sanitizer during the program.
How can video games promote physical fitness? Don't people just sit on a couch to play them?
Not iGame4 active video games! All of our games require players to jump, dance, serve, etc. iGame4 only uses video games that require players to get their heart rate up and become more physically fit.
Aren't video games addictive?
Not in moderation. iGame4 stresses using video games to promote fitness. That includes encouraging kids to get outside and get active as much as they can.
Aren't video games violent?
Video games all have ratings systems. iGame4 only uses games rated for all ages. Parents can use the rating system at home as a barometer for what to buy their own kids. In general the fitness games are not violent and rated E for everyone.
What if my kid doesn't like video games? What is he/she supposed to do during gym class?
There are always supplementary activities your child can do. iGame4 and the Physical Education teachers can work out a fitness routine for the week for any student who does not want to use the video games or their parents don't want them to participate in our activities.
What if my child isn't good at video games? I don't want them to be embarrassed.
iGame4 stresses the fitness part of gaming and the teamwork involved in attaining fitness goals. The class works as a whole to attain a specific, weekly fitness goal.
Will your program provide enough exercise?
iGame4 provides fitness using video games that vary from low to high intensity aerobic activity. More importantly we are trying to teach children the value of fitness, motivating them to stay active by using an activity they love in a new and healthier way. Many students are too shy or out of shape to get involved in traditional sports and fitness activities and we hope that iGame4 will give them the confidence and motivation to start getting active at home and encourage them to be active in other sports outside the home.
Video games aren't a good substitute for outdoor or other physical education activities, are they?
Using video games for fitness is not meant to or should ever replace traditional outdoor activities or physical education. iGame4 provides a unique and fun variation on fitness that can motivate students to exercise by using something that they love to do.
Can my child have a seizure from playing video games?
Any child with a history of seizures or other extreme medical conditions should stay away from playing any video games. iGame4 CPR and AED certified staff will be in direct contact with the Physical Education teachers and make sure we know of any students with these types of conditions.
Why should we as a school district pay for this program when we could just buy a video game system and share it among all the children in the classrooms?
With iGame4 you are paying for an experience! Our programs meet required PE curriculum standards and bring a unique way of getting children active to the school. As part of the package, the school gym will be set up with 12 video game stations that provide a variety of games on a large screen experience. Certified Personal Trainers and NYS educated teachers lead the program.
How will iGame4 benefit my children long term?
iGame4 programs are designed to promote better health, self confidence and social interaction among children by helping increase their overall physical fitness.
Won't sharing controllers spread germs?
We take cleanliness seriously at iGame4. We have a sanitation station set up at every gym to prevent the spread of germs. The sanitation station explains to students how germs spread and the importance of hand sanitizing. All players sanitize before and after activities.
What's wrong with our current physical fitness program?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the current fitness program, but as educators we are always on the lookout for ways to enhance programs and motivate students even more. In our case, iGame4 wants to enhance the program by bringing in a new and fun way to learn and get physically fit.
My child already does exercise games at home. Why should he/she spend a gym class on something they already do?
iGame4 offers a different way to exercise. It allows students to exercise in the comfort of their own home and also encourages teamwork and cooperation among students at schools.
I have a special needs child. How will you accommodate these needs?
iGame4 has a station designed for children with special needs that doesn't require a lot of physical activity. This station is adaptable to the needs of the particular child. In certain cases a game that stimulates the child's cognitive functions in lieu of a physical activity will be used. |
